The ex Formula 1 driver David Coulthard thinks his former McLaren teammate Kimi Raikkonen is a real natural talent.
The Scotsman said that he was very surprised by Kimi’s decision to return to Formula 1 because he thought that Kimi was very happy driving in WRC:
“I thought he really enjoyed competing in rallies and that he had decided to end his career in Formula 1.”
However, the 2007 World Champion surprised everyone when he took the decision to get behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car again and join Lotus F1. Coulthard fully supports Kimi’s decision to get back:
“I completely support his decision to return (and of others) but this will not be an easy task since they have to prove themselves against no less than six World Champions.”
A natural talent
About the Finn, Coulthard noted his speed and ambivalence, and it ensures that Raikkonen is a natural born racer:
“Last year I was with Kimi at the Red Bull Ring, with Sebastian Vettel and some other drivers, we’ve competed together in a variety of cars and motorbikes and Kimi was always the fastest. He has a natural talent.”
