Sauber has announced that its 2014 Formula 1 chassis has passed all the mandatory FIA crash tests.

Nico_Hulkenberg-Sauber_F1_TeamAs was the case a year ago, the Swiss team is the first to officially reveal that its new car has completed the homologation stage.

“The chassis of the C33 has passed all static and dynamic tests of the FIA and is officially homologated,” said a team statement. “The rear crash test, which is not part of the chassis homologation, will take place separately at a later date, as usual.”

None of the 11 F1 teams have yet announced launch dates for their 2014 cars, which are the first built to the championship’s new turbocharged engine regulations.

Winter testing commences at Jerez on Jan. 28.
